CCTV (Camera)

Closed-Circuit TeleVision (CCTV) is a camera system that consists of cameras, a recorder, and monitors for viewing the footage. Rijkswaterstaat uses three different cameras on the offshore platforms, each with its own purpose. These cameras monitor the status of the MIVSP sensors on the platforms.

How do the cameras work?

Each camera provides a different type of image: optical, thermal or a combination of both. For example, the thermal image shows whether too much heat is generated in the outdoor housing, which belongs to the sensors. The cameras also contribute to safety. Suppose there is a radar in the mast on a platform, the CCTV cameras can check whether this radar is switched off before someone enters the mast. In addition, the cameras can also monitor whether unwanted persons enter the technical areas.

Camera footage

Due to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the camera footage is not stored. For privacy reasons, the cameras are only aimed at equipment owned by Rijkswaterstaat and not at the entire platform.

Cameras are also installed on the platforms of the Borssele, Hollandse Kust Zuid, Hollandse Kust Noord and Hollandse Kust West wind farms. The footage captured by these cameras is used exclusively for internal purposes and will not be stored.
