Why was the REC established?

The REC is a virtual team of radar experts housed within the Central Information Service of Rijkswaterstaat. These experts come from various departments and projects. Their tasks include advising colleagues, developing a long-term vision for radar services, keeping up with technological and market developments, building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, conducting research and explorations, and organizing courses, training sessions, and an annual knowledge event.

Collaboration

We believe that you can only truly elevate expertise by engaging with others. That’s why we maintain close ties with radar experts outside of Rijkswaterstaat. For example, we collaborate with specialists at port authorities, Air Traffic Control the Netherlands, the Coast Guard, the Scheldt Radar Chain, Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) companies like Tidales, and knowledge and research institutions. By sharing knowledge and experience and exploring common challenges, we help each other advance and elevate our expertise to a higher level.
